Barnes Group Inc., Engineered Components has a unique opportunity for an Assistant Controller, to support the Accounting and Internal Controls Framework for the Associated Spring Bristol Division. This includes driving process improvements, auditing process to assure compliance, and working with internal and external auditors to assure data availability and reliability. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to manage multiple projects, build sustainable processes, and to collaborate as a business partner with extensive exposure to all levels of Finance and business leaders. This position reports to the Division Controller.Core Responsibilities: Overall responsibility for the monthly closing process, including all general ledger journal entries and reconciliations using the Blackline system. Preparation of monthly financial statements and transmissions to Barnes Group Corporate Office. Identify and drive operational efficiencies for accounting cycle as well as enhancing procedures and standard work instructions. Responsible for establishing and maintaining internal controls and procedures over financial reporting including design and assessment of effectiveness of controls and procedures. Prepare and track Capital Asset Requisition Request (CAAR). Assist in the coordination financial statements and SOX 404 audits by Internal and External auditors, as well as group Controller reviews. Preparation of financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and Barnes Group policy. Coordinate the review and processing of division expense reports and accounts payable disbursements though the Shared Services group. Support annual physical inventory and cycle counting. Required Experience Qualifications: Minimum 5 years accounting experience within a manufacturing environment. Proven track record of five to seven years of related financial/accounting experience. Demonstrated progressive career development with increasing responsibilities, with emphasis on accounting processes. Ability to identify, engage and lead necessary employees with process improvement initiatives. Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively interact with all levels of management. Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, MRP systems). Education Requirements: BS degree in accounting required; MBA or masters in related field preferred. CPA or CMA highly preferred.
