Position Summary:
The CMM
Programmer/Inspector performs dimensional inspection using the CMM, creates and edits CMM part programs and is responsible for the proper upkeep and maintenance of the CMM and its associated equipment and documentation. The CMM
Programmer/Inspector also trains personnel regarding running existing CMM part programs, performs layout and first piece inspection as required and assists with any other
duties/responsibilities as assigned.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
:
Create detailed CMM part programs using PC:DMIS software. These programs shall contain detailed instructions for set:up, part orientation and part, process and characteristic identification as required and should be able to be run by other inspectors as needed.
:
Incorporate Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement practices in the daily execution of tasks.
:
Adhere to company procedures regarding Quality, Safety and Environmental compliance.
:
Demonstrate leadership and teamwork
:
Collaborate and cooperate with other CMM inspectors and programmers in the company.
:
CMM inspections of machined aircraft engine parts at various stages of the manufacturing process
:
CMM inspection of gages and tooling as required
:
Comply with the PWA reqts. for CMM program validation and gage suitability
:
Must be able to communicate, interact and assist with Manufacturing and Engineering personnel in regards to measurement findings
:
Maintain good housekeeping practices at all times.
:
Understand, implement and maintain the Companys quality policies and procedures in the performance of all duties and responsibilities.

Knowledge and Skills:
:
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and applicable specifications
:
Able to use general inspection equipment, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.
:
Solid knowledge of GD and T including ANSI:Y:14.5, PWA 360, PWA 79360
:
Good organization and record keeping skills
:
Ability to multi:task and handle multiple priorities while maintaining proper attention to detail.
:
Familiarity with Microsoft software, Word, Excel, Power Point and Adobe
:
In depth knowledge of PC:DMIS software including alignments, tolerances, use of CAD solid models, off:line programming, data formats and exporting measurement data
:
Able to incorporate changes in CMM technology, software and capabilities into CMM inspection and programs
:
Use of the CMM for inspection in the manual mode
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 2 years experience as a CMM Programmer using B and S PC:DMIS software, along with a minimum of four years of layout inspection.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Knowledge and ability regarding trigonometry and geometry. Ability to calculate true position, profile, angular position and other drawing requirements using dimensional measurement data.
Reasoning Ability: Ability common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
The employee may sometimes be subject to airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is normal to machining, turning and milling machines.
