Job Description:/h3:
POSITION: Design Automation Engineer : Req.
DEPT: 754 : Operations SHIFT: Day
REPORT TO: Sr. Team Leader, AMT INTERNAL and EXTERNAL

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage, design, implement, install, and test and calibrate automated equipment and machinery to improve production efficiency and safety. This includes the selection and design of computer systems and software, mechanical and electro:mechanical components, and measurement control and safety devices. Also responsible for writing and programming code, developing system documentation, training and maintenance documentation, and performing a variety of tests to ensure system safety and functionality. Also, provide the necessary technical support for post:installation troubleshooting until the system is functioning safely and effectively according to specifications.
2. Stay up to date on cutting edge technology, to include but not limited to, manufacturing processes and equipment advances. Share knowledge and trains Manufacturing Engineers to ensure use of manufacturing processes and machine methodology to support production activities.
3. Promote, train, and drive the use of lean manufacturing methods to enhance manufacturing efficiencies and reduce costs. Establish emphasis and ensure due diligence in the research and development of Return on Investment (ROI) reports for equipment acquisition justification.
4. Act as the gatekeeper for process standardization and maintenance of best practices. Is steadfast in focus to ensure processes yield product that meets cost and quality expectations, with reliability and consistency.
5. Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers and support any organizational manufacturing activities, not limited to Value Stream residency. Promote positive teamwork environment.
6. Promote and ensure maintenance and sustainment of a clean and safe work environment. Promote safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety and environmental incidents to supervisor.
7. Perform other duties as assigned. Accomplish related results as needed.
MINIMUM EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: BS Degree in
Mechanical/Aeronautical/Robotic/Manufacturing Engineering; MS Degree a plus.
Experience: 5:8 years automation systems design experience in a manufacturing environment.

Advanced 3:D Solids Modeling.
Use of Micrometers and Vernier calipers.
