Selected candidate will be expected to provide technical guidance, oversight, and review of new and modified technical writing products including component manuals, steam and electric plant manuals, ship information books, ship systems manuals, and maintenance and alteration documents; review interactive electronic technical manuals; ensure quality of all products; and ensure that the products are prepared in accordance with published procedures and processes. Selected candidate must regularly interface with EB Engineering (all disciplines), shipyard organizations, vendors and the Navy Customer to resolve or better understand technical and programatic issues. As directed, the candidate will attend pre:start and kickoff meetings representing D403 Supervision and provide department man:hour estimates for manual updates or other products as appropriate. Selected candidate will work with supervision to evaluate designs to support estimates, determine priorities, schedule, and work load to assist with planning and coordination of work. Selected candidate will recommend and implement process improvement initiatives, as appropriate. A BS Engineering degree or related technical degree is required. Microsoft Office computer skills are required. 10 plus years of related engineering experience preferred. Completion of a department head tour on board a naval nuclear vessel preferred. Candidates must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work independently. Ability to plan, organize, and schedule work, and the ability to direct others to accomplish tasks is required. A technical background in submarine systems and components and/or submarine operational experience is highly desired. Working knowledge of DSS:SOC, SUBSAFE, and Fly:by:Wire requirements is desired.
