The Senior Technical Trainer C and S : Engineering, is responsible for planning and monitoring the development and delivery of Amtrak's training programs throughout the corporation. The position manages all activities related to the delivery of training, associated budgets and administration requirements. This position is responsible for managing, coaching, evaluating and developing subordinate staff to provide effective delivery of training programs in compliance with mandated and regulatory requirements for the corporation. Provide leadership that will improve overall quality and effectiveness of training through collaboration, innovation and ability to motivate others.
- This position is responsible for tracking activity levels such as staffing, course content, course development and delivery
- Manages all activities related to the development and delivery of training, associated budgets and administration requirements
- This position works closely with other departments in identifying training needs by conducting needs analysis and training initiatives
- Direct, manage, coach, evaluate and develop subordinate staff
- The position will be responsible to provide necessary analytical training data as required and to perform duties as necessary to meet the HC Training and Development goals and objectives
- Participates in a proactive role to aid in the prevention of train accidents, employee and passenger injuries and increase customer satisfaction
- Some years in the position of Technical Trainer C and S, or equivalent field experience
- Knowledge of railroad operations staffing practices, infrastructure, and/or Engineering practices
- Strong organization, budgeting and planning skills
- Experience using PC:based word processing spreadsheets, and presentation software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
- Proven financial analysis skills
- Experience in supervising the work of agreement and non:agreement employees
- Familiar with State, Federal or other regulatory agencies rules and regulations
- Must be highly organized and able to handle a variety of duties, frequently with limited timeframes
- Must be qualified in AMT 23/27, Roadway Worker Protection, Amtrak's Electrical Operating Procedures (AMT:2) and NORAC Operating Rules
- Strong knowledge of 49CFR Part 214 regulations
- Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in communication skills, including writing, speaking and the presentation of instruction content, data and analysis
- Demonstrated experience in managing a training function
- Qualified C and S Signal Maintainer
- Experience in working in a team environment, including senior staff and labor leaders
- Familiar with state and federal training requirements
- Demonstrated supervisory experience
- Knowledge of Amtrak's business, operations and financial systems
- Experience in business analysis and budgeting
- Knowledge of course design and methods of needs analysis
Advanced degree in Education, Business or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
