Assistant Director Faculty Teaching Initiatives Yale University offers exciting opportunities forachievement and growth in New Haven, Connecticut. General Purpose: Reporting to theDirector of Faculty Teaching Initiatives, the Assistant Directorwill support the development of high-impact educational developmentactivities, work to promote teaching excellence and equity acrossthe University, and build communities that advance teaching andlearning at Yale. Principal Responsibilities: Establish working relationships with faculty and Center staffthrough the design and implementation of consultations, institutes,workshops, and other programming informed by educational researchand campus needs.Assist Director with management of teaching grant programs,learning communities, and other cohort-building experiencescentered in the CTL, collaborating with other CTL colleagues asappropriate.Assist with design and creation of print and web-basedinstructional resources and highlight discipline-specific andinclusive pedagogical methods, in conjunction with other members ofthe Faculty Initiatives Team.Conduct consultations and classroom observation services forfaculty. Support portfolio and other custom presentations ofteaching activity. Facilitate grant/fellowship applications relatedto teaching and learning.Provide faculty support for course design, instructionaldesign, and assessment development and delivery customized tosubject area domains of faculty teaching across divisions andschools campus-wide.Maintain a deep and current understanding of educationalresearch, particularly as it relates to teaching and learning inuniversity classroom and online environments, and as it relates toachieving educational equity.Work with the Director on strategic planning and cultivatingpartnerships on campus to identify new needs and opportunities.Identify best practices and resources available beyond Yale.Represent the CTL's work at briefings, campus visits,conferences, and other academic venues.Work with the Assistant Director for Educational ProgramAssessment to conduct ongoing assessment of programs and services,analyze workshop activity, surveys, captured footage, and otherevidence of impact, and draw on such data for iterative improvementof CTL services. Required Education and Experience: PhD orequivalent level degree and 3-5 years' university teachingexperience. Qualifications: Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in theacademic environment.Current knowledge of best practices and emerging trends inteaching and learning.Demonstrated ability to work effectively on individual andcollaborative projects.Sensitivity to teaching and learning needs and inclusiveteaching issues at a major research university.Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellentorganizational, analytical, and program development skills.Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:Experience supporting faculty in a research institution. Evidenceof participation in scholarship of teaching and learning. Tenuretrack university teaching experience. Faculty developmentprogram experience.
