The Director of Early Learning will establish overall program strategies and objectives for the full continuum of Early Learning programs provided by the YWCA. Ensure the development and delivery of childcare programs that meet the diverse developmental, educational and social needs of children. Essential Functions/Position Responsibilities: Direct the development of strategies, goals, outcomes and assessment methods for all childcare programs; Develop, monitor and ensure the achievement of overall and individual program budgets. Identify negative enrollment or financial trends and ensure corrective action is implemented at the program level; Forecast funding requirements for current and proposed program offering. Collaborate with Development staff in grant and other fund raising efforts to secure the required financial resources; Facilitate the continuous evaluation of program initiatives to determine their overall impact and to further program innovation; Monitor and evaluate the achievement of program strategies and outcomes at an individual program level; Ensure the integration and coordination of services between programs areas; Collaborate with other senior staff to ensure the alignment of childcare program plans with other YWCA services and activities; Communicate and ensure the implementation and achievement of all legal, accrediting, licensing and funding requirements; Establish and communicate staffing objectives. Oversee the recruiting and selection effort at a program level to ensure staff hired enhance the ability to achieve program objectives and the YWCA’s mission; Recruit, motivate and retain superior program leadership staff. Coach and develop direct reports to ensure achievement of the organization’s mission and financial objectives; Provide leadership to ad hoc and advisory groups as needed; Participate in development and community outreach efforts to increase the visibility of the YWCA within the community, increase program enrollment and fund development initiatives. Research and remain current on evolving concepts and trends within the fields of child development and childcare. Head Teachers: We are looking for Head Teachers for sites in West Hartford and Hartford. These are full time positions with paid vacation and sick, free dental and excellent affordable healthcare options. Head Teachers must have their associates and on track to get their bachelors degree within 2 years. We have entry level positions for candidates who want to work with an experienced teacher and learn curriculum, lesson planning and how to run a classroom. The Director of Early Leaning should have the following qualifications: Masters Degree in early childhood, sociology or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience; Minimum of 10 years experience in progressively more responsible positions within the field of early childhood education or childcare; Minimum of 2 years experience in senior leadership capacity including responsibility for budget and personal; Experience working within a culturally diverse, urban community; Demonstrated superior skills in program development and staff leadership; Demonstrated knowledge of budget development and management; Extensive knowledge of current concepts in early childhood development and learning; Extensive knowledge of public health codes, ordinances, and licensing requirements etc. related to childcare services and facilities.
