Senior Water Resource/Drainage Engineer
TranSystemss Meriden, CT office seeks a Senior water resource/drainage engineer to join our growing office of roadway, highway, structural, transit, rail, and intermodal designers.
The person will be a member of our highway division and will assist in completing major civil and infrastructure projects completing stormwater control, drainage design and Erosion and Sediment (E and S) control plans. In addition the individual will lead the hydraulic and hydrologic analysis of waterways and structures including developing solutions for complex hydraulic stormwater problems. The position includes the preparation and review of working drawings, details, layouts, cost estimates, studies, reports, specifications and work products. Candidates with a background in studies, preliminary engineering and development of detailed plans and specifications are recommended. The individual may also be called on to work closely with other teams on multi:disciplinary projects. The engineer will have the opportunity to work on challenging projects in a unique and dynamic work environment.
The candidate will manage other engineers and technicians to achieve completion of various tasks, as directed by the project manager and will also complete certain tasks independently. Depending on experience level, the individual may bear responsibilities as a project manager or deputy project manager.
: Bachelors degree in the civil engineering
: Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience with ConnDOT and/or similar public agencies
: A strong background in the design of stormwater control, drainage design, and E and S controls in Connecticut
: Good analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and modelling results.
: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
: Ability to work well in a team environment on multi:disciplinary projects
: Connecticut PE license
: Prior experience in a leadership and management role
: Experience in Microstation, Geopak, and AutoCAD Civil 3D, HECRAS, and hydrologic software
: Experience with any of the following:
: 2:Dimensional modeling
: GIS Systems and Programs
: Water quality structure design
: Local candidates preferred
General Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
1. Oversees the production of drainage/stormwater management/E and S/permitting aspects of projects.
2. Oversees stormwater modeling with programs such as HEC:RAS, HydroCAD, StormCAD, PondPack, etc.
3. Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods, and represent the organization in meetings to resolve important questions, and to plan and coordinate work.
3. Receives instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected.
4. Provides technical direction to and mentors younger engineers.
