Electrical Supplier Engineer

Description: A direct Supplier Development Engineer job with our client in Simsbury, CT is now accepting applications. To be considered, you will have a BS or MS in electrical engineering, and a minimum of five years Electrical Manufacturing Experience associated with Printed Circuit board fabrication and Assembly. In this role, you will work with engineering, program management, operations, and quality to identify, analyze, and approve suppliers in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment. You will be the voice of the supply chain to ensure designs are created that meet design for manufacturability and design for cost constraints and is aligned with supplier capability and technology. The successful candidate will:
Work closely with the Electrical cross functional team, including product development, program management and production to identify design constraints and make improvements to ensure design requirements are achievable within the supply base capabilities.
Work closely with cross functional teams to identify and mitigate supplier quality and schedule risks.
Act as a liaison with suppliers and interdisciplinary functions with respect to quality and design issues.
Lead reviews of requirements, processes and product held at supplier facilities.
Demonstrate strong leadership skills to influence design decisions and supplier selection.
Audit production processes, raw materials, and or sub tier suppliers to ensure that established quality standards are met.
Conduct root cause analysis for defects, non-conformities, or other quality and schedule issues that occur within the supply base.
Identify and evaluate suppliers for inclusion into Clients Approved Supplier List.
Identify and institute improvement plans for suppliers utilizing lean tools and principles.
Exhibit excellent business judgement required to work effectively to resolve supplier issues.
Manage suppliers from design initiation through product qualification.
Support purchasing in negotiations of cost, lead times and delivery terms for development and production hardware.
Must have a BS or MS in electrical engineering and knowledge of supply chain, AS9100 Quality Systems and IPC/J-Std specifications.
Minimum of 5 years Electrical Manufacturing Experience associated with Printed Circuit board fabrication and Assembly.
Have broad experience in Quality System auditing.
Experienced in Lean tools and Principles to drive continual improvement.
Must be energetic and have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Experienced operating in IPT's and the ability to work independently are vital.
Anticipated travel is 40% of the job duties.
